Welcome to the Washington, D.C. Mandarin Speakers Society! Founded in 2004 by Richard Seldin, former Senior Attorney, U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Society provides a forum in which Mandarin speakers, both native and non-native, can socialize with fellow speakers in a relaxed, informal dinner setting at a local Chinese restaurant. As a club, we are committed to fostering proficiency in Mandarin not only to nurture community around a shared interest but also to better understand and explore China's ancient and enduring culture, the rapid societal changes and dynamic economy that have marked the country's recent decades of reform and opening to the world, as well as its emergence as a world power, making the United-States -China relationship one of the most important in the world. At our regular dinner events, we usually have guest speakers who deliver talks in Mandarin on topics related to Chinese society, culture, politics, international relations, and the arts. Please browse our website to learn more about upcoming events, past activities, and how to become a member. 欢迎来到我们的俱乐部！Cheers, Carlos Da Rosa
